Waterloo – Root Beer Float

This is it. This is the good one. Home run, here. I’d drink more of this! This is what they should be aspiring to! I’m literally stoked (that sounds like Fieri-talk, right?) that Waterloo “Guy Fieri’s Flavortown” flavors have again shown up in a couple of my local groceries—unfortunately not the close-by ones—and I don’t love carrying a 12-pack for a half-hour walk. But I did manage an 8-pack of this one, “Root Beer Float”—and it’s good! Even the box art is excellent—a nostalgic 1950s nighttime gathering—two two-tone cars, maybe about to go on a “chickee run”—or perhaps just to the malt shop. The can art is a bit weirder, a Fifties car looking like it’s floating in a lake (did they use AI for the can?) —though the mug of root beer and vanilla ice cream is nice, as is the starry night sky. Deep blue and dark sparkly brown is a very pleasing color scheme. The water is, as one might expect, a combination of root beer flavor and vanilla—well balanced. The traditional flavor in root beer is what? Sassafras, but blended with a lot of other flavors—so root beer brands are slightly different—which one does this remind me of? Hires, Mug, Barq’s, A&W, Frostie? Those are ones I remember drinking—though not recently. My favorite was the draught variety you could only get at A&W—why was that better? Anyway, the vanilla (ice cream float) here is prominent—and at least it’s a good vanilla flavor—so the whole thing works.
